Step Two:
Choose Your Reference Image
The quality of your reference image is essential for achieving the best results in your custom photo-realistic portrait. High-resolution photos enable me to capture fine details and nuances, especially in larger pieces like A2 and beyond. I can also work with multiple images to create the perfect composition for your portrait.
High-Quality Single Image
Provides the clearest details for lifelike accuracy and is ideal for a realistic portrayal.
Multiple Images
Perfect for when a single high-quality image isn’t available or when you want to incorporate various elements into one portrait.
Consultation
Not sure which image to use? I’m happy to guide you through the selection process to ensure the best outcome for your portrait.
Step 3 :
Book Your Custom Portrait
Once I receive your enquiry, I’ll respond within 48 hours via your preferred contact method to discuss your custom portrait request. We’ll review your reference image together and confirm an estimated delivery timeframe. Please note that I work on a booking system, and availability depends on my current schedule.
To secure your booking, a £100 deposit is required. Once you submit your request, I’ll confirm all details, including the final cost, size, number of subjects, delivery date, and framing options (if applicable). Once everything is confirmed, I’ll send you an invoice, and your portrait slot will be reserved in my schedule.
I typically request 2–4 weeks' notice to complete your photo-realistic portrait, but this may vary based on size, complexity, and my schedule. As your portrait slot approaches, I’ll reach out to confirm the start of your commission and initiate the sign-off process.
Step 4 :
The Creative Process
Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll embark on the journey of creating your custom portrait. I’ll keep you involved at each stage, ensuring the final piece exceeds your expectations.
Initial Composition Approval
Before the detailed drawing begins, you’ll receive a digital draft of your custom photo-realistic portrait. This allows us to align on layout, values, and composition.
Outline Stage
After approval of the composition, I’ll provide the initial pencil outline. This is the perfect time to request any adjustments before I proceed with the finer details.
Progress Updates
At your preference, I’ll share regular updates throughout the drawing process. You’ll have a chance to see your custom portrait come to life.
This step-by-step collaboration ensures you’re fully satisfied with the photo-realistic masterpiece, capturing the essence of your cherished memory, loved ones, or pets.
Step Five:
Delivery
Once your custom photo-realistic portrait is complete, it will be packaged with the utmost care to protect it during transit, ensuring your masterpiece arrives safely.
Unframed Artwork: Your artwork will be carefully packaged flat (or rolled, for larger sizes) with acid-free protective materials to prevent any damage.
Framed Artwork: If you’ve chosen to frame your portrait, it will be safely enclosed in custom packaging to ensure it arrives ready to display.
Shipping costs vary based on size, destination, and framing options. I’m happy to provide an estimate before we begin the process so you can plan accordingly.
Each completed portrait will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a maintenance guide to help preserve your artwork for years to come. This ensures your custom portrait is not only a cherished keepsake but also a valuable investment.
